What is a Member?
YDT Membership requires a commitment from both dancer and parent. YDT prides itself on professionally-minded dancers centered on a commitment to their art and the community they serve. Member Handbook YDT's Member Handbook contains information about the Company, its past, present and policies. Updates tend to made during the early parts of the Company's season, so check in late September for the latest edition. Becoming a Member Audtions for membership in YDT are held in late August. More information on becoming a member is available at the Becoming a Member link. Class Requirements All levels of company membership have weekly class requirements in ballet technique, with higher levels requiring weekly Pointe and partnering work. Membership Meetings All members are required to attend the General Membership Meeting(s) annually, where contract and performance information is highlighted. Performances YDT offers two performance opportunities each year, The Nutcracker is a holiday tradition, while our spring production is selected from a diverse repertory of classic ballets and original works. Rehearsals Each dancer is provided the opportunity to voice potential scheduling conflicts prior to his/her YDT audition. Casting is based, in part, on these conflicts. Unexcused absence from a rehearsal can result in the loss of a role or YDT membership. Participation YDT offers a variety of volunteer opportunities. Parents of YDT members are expected to assist in areas that meet his/her interests and skill levels. Opportunities include costume work, prop and set maintenance, ticket sales, fundraising, publicity, and hospitality. Dancers are also encouraged to volunteer. Many YDT dancers are able to earn time toward required service hours through their volunteer efforts within the company. |
